Heather Schey provided the background and history of how ATAC was formed. Established in 1991, ATAC was created to meet the requirements of the Federal ADA to involve persons with disabilities in the planning process for the ADA Complementary Paratransit Plan for the RI Public Transit  Authority (RIPTA). She invited our guests to the monthly meetings, encouraging input and feedback.

In the same meeting, Beth Pinkham, from OSCIL, Ocean State Center for Independent LIving, reviewed their five core services: Advocacy, Independent living skills, information and referrals, peer support, transition services (youth and nursing home). The comprehensive handout provided a detailed listing of services and programs provided as well as skills taught.
